Pattern- is a repetition of something in a sequence

As you can see from the movie poster Moon, there is a circular pattern revolving around Sam Rockell

Texture- the surface quality of any object

The soap bar from the movie Fight Club has a smooth soapy texture.

Tactile Texture- is a texture that the viewers mind believe can be felt and touched

This is the prosthetics for Thanos in the movie Avengers. This photo of Thanos is a tactile texture, because it gives a sense that his face is rough and bumpy.

Shape

 Shape- is a visually perceived area created either by an enclosing line

Naturalism- a true representation of a visual image

In the movie The Grey this shot used a CGI wolf, but it still looked as real as a real wolf.

Distortion- the exaggeration of an object that is familiar to us

This image of Neo from the Matrix is an accurate representation of distortion due to how his body shape is created by the number codes in the image.

Idealism- a visual representation of an image that the worldview says it should be

Line

A line is a point set in motion




Actual line

The yellow traffic line is a point that is set into motion.

Implied Line- is an invisible line created by the viewer connecting a series of points together
 

The points at the edge of the scene make the viewers eyes create an implied line.

Psychic Line-  is when a figure is pointing or looking at an object, which causes us the viewer to look in that direction
 

This scene from District 9 depicts the psychic line by having both characters looking at the notepad making the viewer look there as well.
